Frequently Asked Questions

Where do lessons take place?

In-person lessons take place in Springfield, ON. Online lessons can take place from anywhere in the world!

2

What ages do you teach?

We teach all ages! But, if you're wondering which age is best for starting piano lessons, we recommend starting around age 6. Please note that some students may be ready earlier, while others may need more time.

3

What do I need to start lessons?

You will need an instrument to practice on at home. We recommend either an acoustic piano or a full-sized digital keyboard with weighted keys (88 keys).

4

How often do lessons take place?

Lessons take place on a weekly basis. We do not recommend bi-weekly or monthly lessons. Weekly check-ins with your teacher help to keep you on track in your practicing and support your progress.

5

How much should I practice?

It depends! If you're a beginner, a few minutes a day will be just fine to get you started. At elementary/early intermediate levels, we suggest that you practice at least 20 to 30 minutes a day in order to feel successful. As you progress to more advanced levels, this amount will increase.

We believe that playing even a few minutes a day is better than practicing a full hour only once a week. Daily practice makes progress!

6

Do you offer group lessons?

Yes! We offer six masterclasses each year during which students perform their pieces, improvise together, and participate in musical games.

7

Can I switch between online and in-person lessons?

Absolutely! If you are unwell or if the roads are unsafe for travel, we are happy to conduct your lesson online.

8

How long should my lessons be?

Beginners and young students may start out with 30 minute lessons. We recommend 45 minute lessons for anyone who has been playing for more than two years.  At advanced levels, we recommend 60 minute lessons.
